A quality font can make a world of difference to the overall look of your sheet music. While premium fonts are often the best choice if you really want to up the design of your score, it is possible to get high-quality fonts for free. Here are four free fonts to upgrade the design of your sheet music:
1. PT Serif
ParaType released this font in 2010. It’s great both for headlines and text and is available in regular, italic and bold styles. Choose this font if you want your sheet music to look classic and timeless.
2. Cardo
This Old Style serif typeface has an academic and medieval feel. It features several interesting ligatures and comes in regular, italic and bold. Designed by David Perry, Cardo is available for free from Google Fonts.
3. Hedvig Letters
Designed by Kanon Foundry, Hedvig Letters Serif adds a unique character to your sheet music design. Use it mainly for titles and combine it with its sibling, Hedvig Letters Sans, if you want your score to look modern.
4. EB Garamond
EB Garamond is an excellent choice if you want to refresh your sheet music design while simultaneously optimizing readability. It comes in several styles, with the italic style adding elegance to your score. Designed by Georg Duffner and Octavio Pardo, it is available for free from Google Fonts.
